Exception handling in post-deletion

Various exceptions can disrupt the process of deleting posts across social media platforms. These may include API limitations, connectivity issues, or platform-specific restrictions. This section outlines common exceptions and provides guidance on how to handle them effectively.

a. Failed deletion

If an error occurs while attempting to delete a post and the deletion is unsuccessful, you can retry the deletion process. The following screenshots illustrate how this scenario appears.
When you attempt to delete a published post from the Planner and the deletion fails due to an error, an error message will be displayed.

In this scenario, you have three options:
  • Back: Closes the popup without taking further action.
  • Retry: Attempts the post-deletion process again. The post may be successfully deleted, or the error may still persist.
  • Delete from ContentStudio Only: Removes the post from ContentStudio while leaving it published on the social media platform. In this case, you will need to delete the post manually from the platform.

b. API Limitations in Deletion Processes

Certain social media platforms have API limitations that prevent posts from being deleted directly through ContentStudio. In such cases, posts can only be removed from ContentStudio, and you will need to delete them manually from the respective platform.
These limitations apply to the following platforms:
  • Instagram
  • TikTok
  • Facebook Stories
  • Facebook Groups
  • GMB Video
Below are the steps to handle deletion when these limitations apply:
1
Navigate to the Planner and select the post you wish to delete.

2
Review the popup. Platforms with API restrictions will be marked with a warning sign, indicating that special action is required.

3
Handle restricted accounts: If you click "Select All", an error message will appear. Accounts without restrictions will be auto-included, but those with restrictions must be selected manually. You can then review and select these accounts, or cancel/confirm by clicking Ok.

4
View Platform Warning: Click the warning icon next to the account to see that deletion through ContentStudio is not possible due to API limitations. You can choose to keep the post in ContentStudio or delete it from here, but manual deletion from the platform itself is required.
5
Delete from ContentStudio: To delete the post from ContentStudio, check the "Delete from ContentStudio Only" option and click Delete.

Following these steps will ensure that posts are removed from their respective platforms and ContentStudio, except where manual deletion is necessary.

c. Delete Partially Failed Post

In some cases, you may need to delete a partially failed post. To do this:
  • Go to Planner and select a partially failed post.

  • Click on the post, and the preview will open, showing its statuses, including Published and Failed.

To delete a partially failed post, click on the three dots and select "Delete Post".

You will see two options to delete a post:

  • Delete from ContentStudio Only: Removes the post only from ContentStudio.
  • Delete from ContentStudio + Social Media Platforms: Deletes the post from both ContentStudio and the social media platforms where it was published.
Depending on your needs, choose either "Delete from ContentStudio Only" or "Delete from ContentStudio + Social Media Platforms". Selecting the second option and clicking Next will take you to a list of all social media platforms where the post was published and partially failed.

Initially, you cannot select an account with a warning sign separately. Click the warning sign to view details. If a post was partially failed and is not present on the platform itself, the warning will indicate that it can only be deleted from ContentStudio.
You have two options:
  • Delete Published Posts Only: Click "Select All" to delete only the published posts. The failed post will remain on the Planner list.

  • Delete All Posts from ContentStudio: Click "Select All", then manually select the failed post and choose "Delete from ContentStudio Only" by checking the option. This will delete all posts from ContentStudio.
