How are AI video clipping credits calculated?
AI video clipping lets you turn long-form videos into short, shareable clips (Reels, Shorts, and more). Each video clipping run consumes video clip credits from your plan. This article explains exactly how those credits are calculated.
The rule: 1 credit per minute of source video
Your video clip credits are based on the length of the original video you upload, not on how many separate clips are generated.
Each minute (or part of a minute) of the source video costs 1 credit, rounded up to the nearest minute.
In other words, the cost is roughly ⌈source video duration in seconds ÷ 60⌉ credits per generation run.
Source video duration | Credits consumed (rounded up) |
|---|---|
1 minute (60 sec) | 1 credit |
3 minutes (180 sec) | 3 credits |
5 minutes (300 sec) | 5 credits |
6 min 30 sec (390 sec) | 7 credits |
10 minutes (600 sec) | 10 credits |
Generating multiple clips from one video
Because the charge is based on the source video's duration, generating several clips from the same video still costs the same as a single run. You are not charged per individual clip — the credit cost is tied to the source video length, once per generation run.
When are credits checked and deducted?
Before generation starts, ContentStudio checks that you have enough available video clip credits. If your available credits are less than the source video's minute-count (rounded up), you'll see an "Insufficient video clip credits" error and generation won't start.
After your clips are successfully uploaded, the credits are deducted from your workspace's used credit count.
How many credits do plans include?
Video clip credits are included with your plan and refresh at the start of each billing cycle.
Most standard plans include 100 video clip credits per billing cycle.
Additional credits can be purchased via a video clip credits add-on (100 credits per add-on item).
On agency/unlimited plans, additional clip credits are granted per added profile.
What happens when I run out?
When you run out of video clip credits, you'll be unable to start new video clipping runs until:
Your billing cycle resets (refreshing your included credits), or
You purchase additional credits via the video clip credits add-on.
